Everything Announced During Wholesome Snack: The Game Awards Edition

Wholesome Games has given us some pretty neat indie game announcements over the years, and Wholesome Snack is no exception, an event that runs alongside The Game Awards that celebrates all the cozy little indies coming to PC and consoles near you in the not so distant future. This year’s show was as jam-packed as usual, so here’s everything that was announced that you can look forward to very soon.

Capy Castaway

A capybara with a crow on its head

Capy Castaway is a puzzle game that lets you take on the role of a cute little capybara stranded on a mysterious island. You’ll have to sniff around, dig up treasure, and get into hijinks with your crow friend in order to find your way home.

Tales of Seikyu

A woman playing the flute in the middle of a bamboo forest

If you think farming sims are sorely lacking in Yokai these days, then look no further than Tales of Seikyu, a colorful life-sim that lets you meet people, build your farmstead, and turn into a variety of cool little Yokai.

Piece by Piece

A fox holding up a toy duck

Fixing something that’s broken can be quite a serene experience, and Piece by Piece is very much a game that aims to recreate that. You play as a fox that runs a repair shop, and its your job to fix various broken items brought to you by the nearby townsfolk.

Rusty’s Retirement

A vegetable patch full of mahcines and robots

Rusty’s Retirement is a great little idle game to throw on while you’re doing other things, and a new content update that just dropped right now has made it even better. Perfect if you find yourself doing important things on your PC, but want a bit of gaming on the side.

Duck Detective: The Ghost Of Glamping

A duck, rabbit, pigeon, goat, and crocodile all wearing clothes and poses

Duck Detective was a lovely little title that was released last year, full of witty dialogue and colorful characters that have you solving similarly silly crimes. The Ghost of Glamping is yet another ridiculous caper, so you should know exactly what you’re in for with this one.

Lou’s Lagoon

A person in thought over a barbeque

We’ve got another life-sim for you in Lou’s Lagoon now, though this one sets itself apart by letting you pilot your very own plane in an effort to track down your missing uncle. You’ll fly around, deliver parcels, build your business, and eventually track down that illusive Lou.

Pine: A Story Of Loss

A man and woman gardening

Not every game can be wholesome and heartwarming, as Pine: A Story of Loss is a deeply emotional story about a woodcutter struggling to come to terms with the loss of his wife. It’ll definitely hit home with some people, is perfect if you’re in the mood for a tearjerker, and it’s out this Friday.

River Towns

A small town with a canal

River Towns is a lovely little city builder that has you rejuvenating barren valleys with all kinds of weird and wonderful structures, all while making sure you preserve the fragile ecosystem around you.

Spirit Swap: Lofi Beats To Match-3 To

Two people dancing next to a competitive Match 3 game

If you want something to chill out with, you can’t go wrong with Spirit Swap. It has your classic Match-3 gameplay, but mixes it with chill lofi music that will let you zen out while experiencing an interesting story to boot. It also launches onf Febraury 3 next year, so not long to wait.

Winter Burrow

A little mouse walking up to a large mushroom in the snow

The only thing better than a cozy little survival game is a cozy little survival game that lets you play as a mouse, and Winter Burrow provides just that. You’ll brave the elements and collect resources all in an effort to rebuild your ruined childhood home.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley

A person fishing at a dock

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a delightful little game that was released earlier this year, so the fact it’s getting DLC is great news. In this DLC, you’ll have one last camping trip before the main character leaves the valley and the Moomin family go into hibernation. You can check it out on December 17.

Aikyam

Aikyam

Aikyam is definitely one of the more unique titles announced during the show, being the only turn-based Bollywood-inspired RPG that comes to my mind. You’ll take part in extravagant battles against demons, and a demo is now available if you want to try it.

Little Rocket Lab

A little woman riding a large robot through grass

Easily one of the highlights of the show for me, as Little Rocket Lab has you building various little contraptions to finish off a rocket that your mother once dreamed of building. Definitely one that fans of titles like Satisfactory will want to keep an eye on.

Loftia

Two people stood at the foot of a large building construction

Loftia is definitely one of the more ambitious life-sims out there, what with it being an MMO that rewards players working together. A new feature called Neighborhoods was announced today, which will let players attach their homes together to form little communities.

Star Birds

A lrage ornage meteor covered in science equipment

Back to base building now, and Star Birds is one for all the bird lovers out there. You’ll work with other colorful birds to mine, scan , and build on asteroids to gather resources and further explore the mysteries of space.

Locomoto

A steam train in a station

From building on asteroids to building on trains now, as Locomoto was also announced during the show, a game that sees you build your own train to ride along various train stations. Along the way, you’ll pick up passengers, and attempt to make everyone happy while doing so.

NAIAD

A small rive filled with logs, lily pads, and rocks

NAIAD is another game that aims to deliver a chill experience, as you play as the titular Naiad to swim up rivers and streams to find secrets, all while appreciating the music and visuals. Best of all, it’s available to play right now.

A Waddleful Life

A duck with its ducklings next to a bush

The second duck-related game of the show was A Waddleful Life, but instead of solving crimes, you’re looking after your little gang of ducklings while exploring, nurturing them until they’re capable of their first flight.

Pinbleton Park

A small village covered in pinball obstacles

If you’ve ever wondered what a cozy pinball game looks like, Pinbleton Park is the answer. In a town that is essentially one massive pinball table, you can help your neighbours, craft new pinball features, all while sticking it to a mega corporation out to destroy the town.

Despelote

A boy and girl kicking a football to each other

Despelote will immediately attract your attention with its art style and story, as it aims to recreate the feeling in the country of Ecuador following its first ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup in 2001. Definitely a unique one for any football lovers out there.
