How Travis Kelce’s Dad Will Impress Taylor Swift With Birthday Gift 

With Taylor Swift’s 35th birthday on the horizon, Travis Kelce’s father has been mulling over the perfect gift.

“Trying to buy Taylor a present is like trying to buy [my sons] Jason or Travis a present,” Ed Kelce said during a Thursday, December 12, appearance on 92.3 The Fan’s Baskin and Phelps radio show in Cleveland. “There’s nothing they want, that they don’t already have. There’s nothing they think they might get, that they haven’t already figured out exactly what model. You can’t go that route.”

Ed and ex-wife Donna Kelce share sons Jason, 37, and Travis, 35, who are both NFL stars. Jason played 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring earlier this year. Travis, meanwhile, is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. He started dating Swift, 34, in summer 2023. She turns 35 on Friday, December 13.

“You gotta dig down and come up with something special,” Ed explained on Thursday. “The amount of money is meaningless. You’re not gonna impress Taylor Swift with a gift that costs $100,000 but get something that tweaks the strings of her heart that you spend 10 bucks on and she’ll be all gooey.”

He continued, “You gotta find something that triggers the emotion.”

Ed first met Swift ahead of one of Travis’ Chiefs games in September 2023, where he was blown away by her down-to-earth demeanor.

“Taylor walks [into Travis’ house] with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is. Jeez, you know, like a real idiot,’” Ed recalled during a January appearance on the Cleveland-based radio show. “And [my girlfriend] says, ‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”

Ed and Swift have since bonded at many of Travis’ games, including the AFC Championship and Super Bowl earlier this year.

“Every game there’s people crowding outside the front of that suite trying to get a glimpse of Taylor, wanting to meet Taylor,” Ed later told the Los Angeles Times in January. “Taylor’s very gracious, but she can’t do everything. And she’s got security guys who don’t want her doing anything. That’s their job and she’s smart enough to know, ‘I’m paying these guys to keep me safe. I should probably listen to them.’”

He added, “But if it was up to her, she’d be out there with everyone who wants her.”

Swift has also formed bonds with Donna, Jason and his family, including pregnant wife Kylie Kelce and their three daughters. Swift even hosted the entire Kelce family at her family’s Thanksgiving celebration in November.
